Jerry’s roots in the retail jewelry industry go back to when he was 15 years old, working in his family’s "Robbins 8th & Walnut" jewelry business. After spending three years selling business systems, in 1965 he and brother Ron became partners with their father.
In 1974, Jerry’s father retired. Between 1975 and 1985, Jerry and Ron worked together, first opening their own jewelry store on a street that housed more than 100 other jewelry stores on this single block. Their initial venture became one of the highest volume-per-square-foot jewelry operations in the United States. The brothers then opened retail stores at the Roosevelt Mall in Northeast Philadelphia, Lawrence Park Shopping Center in Broomall, and Mercer Mall in Lawrenceville, NJ. In 1998, with the opening of their 5th store in the greater Philadelphia area,in the state of Delaware. Jerry and Ron changed the name of their stores to "Robbins Diamonds".
Jerry’s area of expertise is in developing and creating effective marketing and advertising promotions. Besides making "Robbins 8th & Walnut" a household name in the Philadelphia area, Jerry is a nationally recognized sales trainer and consultant to retail jewelers, and is also heard on the radio talking about the jewelry business in five national markets.
Jerry was elected president of the Diamond Council of America in 1984, undertaking the revision and redesign of the The Diamond Course as one of his major projects. In 1985, he was Chairman of the Board, and continues his service to DCA as President Emeritis and a board member today.
Jerry appears in the "Who’s Who in the Jewelry Industry", is Past President and a former "Man of the Year" from Jewelers Row Businessmen’s Association, and has also served on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Retail Jewelers Association. Robbins Diamonds was named “Retailer of the Year 2000” by the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia
Jerry’s interests extend beyond the retail jewelry industry. He is a member of the Actors Equity Association, with 20 years of community stage acting experience, 36 local productions, and three major motion pictures under his belt. Jerry and his wife Dena live in Philadelphia, where two of their three sons are involved in the family business. They are also proud grandparents seven times over.
